Interflora Australia has been operating across our country since 1954. Originally based in Adelaide, South Australia, we now operate out of Interflora House in Melbourne, Victoria. Interflora Australia is 100% Australian owned - via a licensing agreement, issued to us from Interflora in the United Kingdom.

Interflora is owned by florists. For more than 70 years, we have been helping our customers buy the widest range of floral and hamper gifts in Australia; delivering to more areas within our country than any other floral service and all done through our network of 500 locally-based florist shops, run by a florist. We do not have warehouses where flowers are simply boxed, posted, and have a shelf life of 2 days. Our flowers come through our network of florists. For this reason, our customers can be sure they are helping a local floristry business and a local business owner when they make a purchase from Interflora Australia.

Because we electronically send your order to the florist closest to your recipient, the environmental impact of your order's delivery, from florist to home/office is significantly less.

We offer same day delivery to every available postcode in Australia. For no extra cost. And have been since 1954.

Our Customer Support Centre (call centre) is based right here in Australia; in Melbourne. Whether our customers are calling to place an order, ask a question about an order, to fix up a mistake they made online, or any other reason, our Customer Support Staff are here to provide you with as much help as possible. Interflora Australia is not an online series of names masquerading as a company, we are here to support you online, in person, or via email. Orders sent within Australia or to anywhere in the world are through Interflora's Australian Headquarters in Melbourne. These orders are sent to our member florists to ensure that fresh flowers are expertly handcrafted by a local florist and delivered with care to the recipient. How sending flowers started in the beginning....

One of the nicest ways to express a personal message is to; “Say it with flowers".

Almost 100 years ago, expressing personal messages through flowers wasn't easy, with transportation issues getting in the way of the sender and their florist. At the time, florists on different sides of towns exchanged orders at flower markets and made their financial settlements based on their personal relationships.

The relaying or exchanging of orders by wire began operating in Germany in 1908 and in America as early as 1910. The growth of relaying flower orders from one florist to another accelerated, but not to any great extent. This was until World War II when troops away from home added impetus to sending flowers by wire.

Worldwide growth

Once the war was over, florists on both sides of the Atlantic recognised that a formal agreement would be necessary to develop the interest generated through the war years into a peace-time venture. On July 22nd 1946, representatives of America, Britain and Europe met in Copenhagen, Denmark to create Interflora Incorporated as it is known today. It is interesting to note that part of the original agreement stated; “for our respective associations we pledge to further its interests so that the world may be better served and the friendship of nations cemented through the medium of flowers". Interflora Australia was incorporated in Adelaide in 1954 and quickly grew to cover the entire country of Australia.

Today we continue this legacy, delivering messages of love, congratulations, sorrow, and best wishes within Australia, and around the world. Our excellence has only strengthened throughout our history and into the future as we continue to send our orders to Your Local Florist.
